An interesting case of a widow Mari Vindis who is claiming at The High Court that she would have been entitled to 50% of the joint marital assets (i.e. £6 million) had her late husband Nigel (a successful car businessman) died after their financial settlement. They separated and divorce proceedings were issued but not finalised when Mr Vindis died aged 58. Mr Vindis left the vast majority of his assets of his estate to their two adult children leaving Mrs Vindis with half the joint assets of approximately £1 million and cash of £36,000.

Mrs Vindis is seeking "reasonable provision" claiming half the estate to put her in the position she would have been in if a financial settlement in the divorce had been made.
