Interesting article in The Times highlighting the rise of private divorces. This is where parties in a divorce agree to be bound by an informal hearing away from the court to sort out finances.
It is becoming more fashionable in London where the court lists can mean that it can take up to a year to list a financial hearing.
It is however still the preserve of the rich with the article suggesting that a days hearing can cost £15,000 to secure the right judge and pay for their services as well as each party having to pay for their own costs so don't expect this to become the norm!!
