There are now many trends spreading all over the world in relation to couples separating. These range from the celebratory divorce selfie to using 'divorce' apps on your phone to seek advice from others going through separation. However, in England and Wales there is still a big call for modernisation of the Law surrounding Divorce. At the moment if you want to start divorce proceedings before you have been separated for 2 years you have to effectively 'blame' the other for the breakdown of your marriage by choosing either Adultery or Unreasonable Behaviour. We are waiting for a change to a 'no fault' divorce so that there is no longer a need to blame anyone following separation.
Divorce law is yet to be modernised, but there have still been other changes in recent years to the way we approach the end of a marriage.
